Meet Scorpion

The following details apply here. Scorpion on shanxijsy.com uses one 52-card deck with four suits. Moves build down in the same suit rather than allowing cross-suit destinations. The tableau has seven columns. Four complete King-to-Ace runs clear the game.

The initial seven columns

A few details help explain this feature. Each opening column contains seven cards for a total of 49 tableau cards. Three cards remain in the stock. The first three cards in each of the first four columns are face down. All cards in the last three columns are face up.

Build in the same suit

Keep these points in mind. A King cannot land on another card because no higher rank exists. A seven of hearts can land on an exposed eight of hearts. A seven of hearts cannot land on an eight of spades. A moved group's leading card must land on a card exactly one rank higher in the same suit.

Order within a group may vary

Any face-up card can be selected together with every card beneath it. The selected cards do not need to share a suit to travel together. The selected cards do not need to descend in rank to travel together. The leading selected card still has to meet the destination rule.

Only Kings fill empty space

An empty column is therefore less flexible than an empty column in ordinary Spider. Cards beneath a moved King do not need to be in sequence. An empty column accepts a King or a group led by a King. A group led by a lower rank cannot enter an empty column.

Reveal the hidden cards

Keep these points in mind. Undo restores the earlier hidden-card arrangement when the move is reversed. Removing all face-up cards above a hidden card turns that hidden card face up. The next hidden card is revealed automatically. An exposed card can carry the cards beneath it when its own destination is legal.

The final three cards

The following details apply here. This Scorpion version permits its stock deal when columns are empty. The stock contains one final deal of three cards. Dealing places a face-up card on each of the first three columns. There are no further stock cards after the three-card deal.

Collect ordered runs

Here are the details for this mode. All thirteen cards in a collected run must be face up. A completed run must descend from King to Ace in one suit. Moving an unordered group does not make that group a completed sequence. The game removes a qualifying run automatically from the bottom of a column.

Practice Scorpion decisions

A move can carry unwanted cards along with a useful leading card. Hint lists legal choices without promising a winning continuation. Checking the whole moved group helps you anticipate what will become blocked. Replay and Undo let you explore another approach to the same layout.
